Legal

Terms.

Last updated 23 August 2026. Written to be read, not to be survived.

Draft. These terms are a working draft and have not been reviewed by a solicitor. They are published so the position is visible while nothing is on sale, and they will be replaced in full before anything is.

Who we are

Airborne is made by GW Technologies, a sole trader based in Nottingham, United Kingdom. Contact: rob@whatsairborne.com.

Nothing is on sale

There is no product to buy on this site today. Registering interest takes no payment, reserves nothing, and creates no obligation on either side. When there is something to sell, the terms of that sale will be published in full before anyone can pay, and everyone who registered will be told first.

What we do not promise

Airborne shows what aircraft broadcast about themselves, and only that. An aircraft that is not transmitting does not appear. It is not certified for any operational purpose, it is not a navigation or air traffic service, and it must not be relied on for anything where being wrong matters. Coverage depends on the aerial, the location and what is airborne.

If we stop

If we ever stop trading, the licence cost is removed and the final build is published able to read whatever ADS-B source you choose to point it at. A display already on a wall keeps working.

Your data stays on the machine

An update replaces the application and never touches your Data folder: settings, artwork and the record of what has flown over you survive it.

Livery artwork

The livery artwork exists to identify the aircraft actually overhead. Where an operator's mark appears, that is referential use rather than any claim of affiliation, endorsement or licence, and we remove any artwork on request from an operator or their representative.

Data and licences we rely on

Aircraft data comes from ADSB.lol under ODbL 1.0. Route and airline data come from the VirtualRadarServer standing data, released CC0. Weather comes from the NOAA Aviation Weather Center. Place names come from GeoNames.org under CC BY 4.0. These attributions appear in the footer of this site and in the application itself, because they are licence conditions rather than credits.

A unit configured to feed adsb.lol identifies itself on every request with a contact address, which is what they ask of anyone using the data.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
